Good morning internets,
Today I am going to share my daily routine and some changes I am hoping to make. I say hoping because I am really bad at following through. Lets see if this sticks. My daily routine now is this:
Wake up about 6am, get dressed, sometimes Most days my outfit is my pj's and housecoat. I always have a glass of water with lemon and take my first iron vitamin.
Work from 6-7:30ish when the kids get up and it's time for breakfast and making lunches, check my computer periodically for emails and confirmations.
8:30 get the kids off to school, make and eat breakfast, take my vitamins, finish my work
11ish done work and cruise the internet for approximately 30 minutes to 2 hours, yup that's right I waste most of my morning. I take care of any kid stuff I need to do, emails, registration, etc.
Sometime during the morning I have to shower and get dressed in real clothes
noon - lunch, take second iron vitamin, sometimes.
1 or so head out and run errands or sit on the sofa and binge watch something or random chores around the house.
3:30 the kids are home from school, start to think about what's for dinner.
5ish husband is home and start making dinner
depending on the day we may have soccer, Scouts or Sparks, homework/school projects.
or we sit on the sofa and veg out, because I haven't done enough of that during the day, possibly.
8 - kids ready for bed
9-9:30 - I get my lemon water ready for the next morning. I go to bed and read or watch Netflix.
What I am hoping to change:
6am - wake up, wash face, apply bit of make up, get dressed in nice clothes (not my work out gear, like I work out, LOL). Head to my desk to start work.
7:30 - kids are up and I make breakfast, hoping on other things then cereal or toast.
8:30 kids off to school, make breakfast, take vitamins and finish work.
10:30 or 11 - my personal internet time. Now I just cruise and look at random blogs or website. I am going to have specific ones I look at, I have my favourites, stop looking at unrealistic websites, they depress me. I would like to fit in some meditation during the day, I am not sure where yet.
11:40 - work out
noon - lunch, take second iron vitamin
1ish - run errands, complete chores for that day, take dog for a walk, etc.
3:30 - kids home, spend time with them, ask about day, check for any home work/school projects to be worked on after dinner.
5 - start dinner that has been planned out.
6:30 - soccer, Scouts, Sparks or if nice out, a walk, take dog out, some sort of exercise'ish activity for everyone.
8 - get the kids ready for bed
9 - prepare for the next day. Take out anything for breakfast, lunch or dinner, outfit for next day, go over daily binder and enter any important emails to return, calls, kids stuff that needs to be done, put out my lemon water for the next day. Make sure the kitchen is clean for the next morning (unload dishwasher, clean counters from evening snacks, empty dish drainer) . I hate waking up to a dirty kitchen, really puts me in a bad mood.
9:30 - 10 - I am going to start showering the night before, I think this might work better for in the morning. Off to bed, reading only. No watching tablet in bed.
So, here are things I am going to implement to start. I am starting slow and adding something to my list every week. To start with I will be updating my daily binder at night. This will be essential in adding everything I need to do. Once I get this down pat I think most things will fall into place. I do update the daily binder now, but very sporadically.
We live in a bungalow and my morning routine needs to be quiet until the kids get up, which realistically is any time between 6:30 and 7:30. This is why I am going to shower the night before, also I would be competing with my husband who gets up at the same time and showers. I would have to wake up at 5:30 am to get in before him and with the alarm clock that early it would wake him up as well and we both like to have as much sleep as possible.
I have printed off daily docket sheets from the internet, here http://theartofsimple.net/downloads02/ and placed in a pretty binder. I have some different colour pens I will be using for my different areas and chores, etc. I printed off a Cleaning Checklist also from above website. I have created a section for meal planning as well and will see how that goes.
So, to recap, this week I am starting with updating the daily binder every night before bed. Wish me luck.
